Rubén Orio (Spain 1988) is a musician based in Brussels. His work covers contemporary, experimental and improvised music formats. He is a member of ICTUS ensemble, co-founder of the guitar-percussion duo The Third Guy with Primož Sukič, and co-founder of the percussion group FRAMES percussion in Barcelona.
He has been working in multidisciplinary projects together with artists such as choreographers Némo Flouret, Meg Stuart, Ula Sickle, Vera Tussing, Jeanne Colin and Joan Català, but also photographer Lore Stessel, filmaker Mirna Everhard and sound artists Stijn Demeulenaere, Stephan Quix and Hans Roels.
He has been performing a.o. at Biennale di Venezia, MaerzMusik Berlin, Festival d’Automne, Opéra de Paris, MEAUKUSMA festival, SPOR festival in Aarhus, OSTRAVA days and MIXTUR festival.
He currently teaches percussion at the Royal Conservatory of Liège as assistant teacher, and gave several rhythm workshops at P.A.R.T.S dance school.
