
Rubén Orio (Spain, 1988), musician based in Brussels. His work covers contemporary, experimental and improvisation new music formats. Working also in multidisciplinary projects, together with other artists as the photographer/painter Lore Stessel, choreographers as Meg Stuart, Vera Tussing, Jeanne Colin or Joan Català, and sound artists as Stijn Demeulenaere, Stephan Quix or Hans Roels.
Ruben is a regular player in ICTUS ensemble in Brussels, cofounder of TheThirdGuy electric guitar-percussion duo in Brusseles and FRAMES percussion quartet in Barcelona.
Formed in Barcelona ESMUC (Escola Superior de Musica de Catalunya), CODARTS (Arts school of Rotterdam) and HOGENT (Gent University). He has been performing in venues and festivals such as Biennale di Venezia, MaerzMusik Berlin, Festival d’automne, Opéra de Paris, Festival van Vlaanderen Kortrijk, SPOR festival in Aarhus, OSTRAVA days, or MIXTUR festival in Barcelona.
He is a current teacher at the Royal Conservatory of Liège, as an assistant teacher in the percussion class together with Gerrit Nulens.
Also, he has been invited by the Youth Orchestra from Spain as an assistant director of Miquel Bernat for Drumming by Steve Reich, as well to teach rhythm workshops at PARTS, ROSAS dance school in Brussels.
