
Rubén Orio (Spain 1988) is a musician based in Brussels. Using percussion (in the broadest sense of the word) as his instrument, his work covers contemporary and experimental music formats. He is a member of ICTUS ensemble, co-founder of the percussion group FRAMES percussion in Barcelona and the guitar-percussion duo The Third Guy with Primož Sukič, and member of the modular synths-percussion quartet Angie Schaeffer.
He has been working in multidisciplinary projects together with artists such as choreographers/stage makers Kris Verdonk, Némo Flouret, Ula Sickle, Meg Stuart, Vera Tussing, Jeanne Colin and Joan Català, but also photographer Lore Stessel, filmaker Mirna Everhard and sound artists Stijn Demeulenaere, Stephan Quix and Hans Roels.
He has been performing a.o. at Biennale di Venezia, MaerzMusik Berlin, Festival d’Automne, Opéra de Paris, MEAUKUSMA festival, SPOR festival in Aarhus, OSTRAVA days and MIXTUR festival.
He currently teaches percussion at the Royal Conservatory of Liège as assistant teacher, and gave several rhythm workshops at P.A.R.T.S dance school.
